Donor Spotlight: Spring/Summer 2016
On a daily basis, the clients and staff at GACS are humbled by the countless acts of kindness taking place in our community. Read about some of our Spring/Summer 2016 giving highlights:
- Simply Yoga in Lemont selected our Groundwork Program to benefit their August “Yoga for a Cause” class!
- Dr. Christine Billups and Sabrina Poulin of Lewis University dropped off a mini-van full of donations including items from our agency wish list and school supply list! The donations were collected by Lewis University in partnership with the Stateville Restorative Justice Initiative who chose us as the recipient of their ongoing series of projects – “Inside Initiative Summer Project on Violence Prevention.”
- Congratulations to Thorntons Inc. who opened a new store in Channahon and during their grand opening, GACS was honored to receive a BIG check as a symbol of the store’s initiative to “Give Back” to the community!
Jacob Christensen of Eagle Scout Troop #140 organized a donation drive benefiting our Groundwork Program. Jacob worked diligently coordinating his project for several months and organized with his church, St. Alexander’s (Villa Park), to host a donation drive. The drive was a huge success…Jacob came to visit us in July with a truckload of donations from our wish list and over $600 in additional cash donations…and he’s still not done!! He continues to collect from more churches who came on board so Jacob will be back soon with more goodies for our families!
The stories above represent just a few examples of the generosity of our community over the course of the Spring and Summer Months. We are grateful to all who donated their time and talents to our organization.
